 2010 Winter Olympics
Hi All
Did the winter Olympics get much TV coverage in NZ?
It was simply massive here....200,000 people in the Vancouver downtown core quite a few times during thew 17 days. The Saturday in the middle of the games they estimate 300,000 people were downtown.
It all came to a smashing end when the Canadian men's hockey team beat the USA 3-2 in overtime.
The weather for about 10-11 of the 17 days was spectacular. The American news media raved about Vancouver loud and long.

We had full-time coverage on a variety of channels. I was just watching out for the Swedish blondes.

I gather then that there was some tense words spoken when USA managed to score in the last minutes of the game which even the score. Betcha you were sweating a little till the next goal... And speaking of sweat its farking hot here in Cairns.

 Re: 2010 Winter Olympics
Oh ya!!! When they scored to tie it a coast to coast national F*CK could be heard!!!! The USA has come a long way.....there are now more kids younger than 15 playing hockey in the USA than in Canada. The amount of USA born player in the National Hockey League is growing every year. I would guess 30%-35% of the players are now USA born. As for your farking hot temps....you asked for it! CK

At the moment it is suppose to be the wet season (no such thing as the 4 seasons here, just wet and dry) but there is a low to the south which is causing us to get all the hot air coming off the outback

 Re: 2010 Winter Olympics
If you saw the pictures of Vancouver during the Olympics you saw we have had no snow other than the local mountains. That mountain where they had such trouble holding the snowboarding events is one of those mountains....they had to truck and helicopter the snow over from another mountain.
The weird thing is last year Cyprus Mountain had 13 FEET of snow at this time of the year and about 1 foot this year.
I was just outside fixing the gutter drains and it's now 13C in beautiful sun. Winter....what Winter?!

 Re: 2010 Winter Olympics
Ah yes but Vancouver is the warmest spot for Canada in winter time so quit your moaning and clear those gutters!
Now isn't the east side of North America still snowed under?
