Will you be using the 787 domestically or on the NZ-Aus routes?

Maybe a little on the NZ-Aus route as they are essentially replacing the 767's but they mainly go to LAX, PPT, Japan, PER

Fiji is a major vacation destination for Kiwis?

When we were on Rarotanga there were quite a few Kiwis but not as many as I thought
there would be.

Not quite so much at the moment with the political situation but from an Air NZ point of view it is still bigger than RAR due to the number of Fijian living in NZ.

When I went to RAR every second person was from NZ.

We still fly direct from RAR to LAX and from APW (Samoa) to LAX but not Fiji any more.

Quote:
An Air New Zealand Boeing 777-200, flight NZ-90 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to
Auckland (New Zealand) with 296 passengers and 13 crew, rejected takeoff
from runway 34L at high speed. When the airplane came to a stand still,
smoke was seen from all main tyres prompting attending emergency services to
spray the wheels and overheated brakes.

The airport reported, that all 12 main gear tyres deflated due to the brakes
overheat. The runway had to be closed for about 30 minutes.

First indication since above report maybe an RR engine failure

Did you know any of the crew, Rocky?

I have been on leave for a week and didn't even think to check today. Will have to have a look tomorrow.

It obviously wasn't either of the ones I talked to today as they were from the 767 and A320.

Continental to fly 787's daily Houston to Auckland.

Continental Airlines to fly nonstop to NZ

Probably good news for the average traveller but probably not good news for AirNZ.

I disagree. People will fly them once, but you guys have spoiled them so they'll never do it again. Continental isn't wonderful.

I was on a Continental flight from Vancouver to New York about 5 years ago.
It was a 737 and there were 21 people on board! We all had a row of 3 seats.
Popped the arm rests back and slept most the way.
